SO. . .This Black History month I want to celebrate the fight for freedom.

It's not a road covered in roses and rainbows but love, lost, heart, and sacrifice. It's a fight for that sweet nectar of freedom. As a black trans femme I am constantly in this fight for freedom to free myself of the bondages of the of oppression. . .but with hope, heart, and love, I continue to find ways to cut ties with the shackles of oppression my ancestors once knew and start my journey on that long road to freedom. I want to celebrate the beauty in the fight and the undeniable culture we have come to create that continues to free us everyday and allows our inner beauty to reign as free as the Kings, Queens, and Royals we descend from.

 

This is why the second Queen that me and my amazing designer Sierra Mitchell and I have chosen to do is a #BlackRapunzel as much of her story is fighting against the systems against her to find her way to freedom and unleashing her inner beauty through that process.
